Been ages since I had a chance to do this. Over at Lillie McFerrin’s blog, there is a five-sentence-fiction prompt for every week. This week: Blades.
She’d been cutting chicken breasts for dinner, the blade slicing through the soft pink meat, when the front door slammed.
“Chicken again?” he said, “Didn’t you learn your lesson last night?”
His hands twitched. Any excuse and he’d turn them into fists.
“Yes, I did,” she said, tightening her grip on the knife.
