After my grandaunt died, we picked over her things in the old family home that was now mine.

The remnants of a solitary life, hardly lived, church newsletters, faded postcards from her sister, my grandmother, my wedding photos. All the weddings she went to, but never one of her own.

My husband was the one who found the letters. Love letter after love letter- all from someone called Sadie.
